Using Momentum in Slack

Momentum integrates deeply with Slack to help you manage deals, track opportunities, and stay connected with your sales workflow. This guide covers all available commands, shortcuts, and interactions.

Slash Commands

Slash commands are typed directly in Slack’s message input field.

Use this when: You need a quick reminder of available commands and emoji reactions.
Links a Slack Connect channel to a Salesforce opportunity. This is useful when you have external channels with customers or partners that should be associated with a deal.

Use this when: You want to connect a Slack Connect channel to track conversations with external stakeholders. Requirements: Salesforce integration must be connected.

/momentum-make-account-room

Converts an existing Slack channel into an Account Room linked to a Salesforce account. Account Rooms centralize all communications related to a specific customer account.

Use this when: You want to associate an existing channel with a Salesforce account for better organization and tracking. Requirements: Salesforce integration must be connected.

/momentum-rename-dealroom

Opens a modal to rename an existing dealroom. You can also convert the dealroom to an Account Room from this modal.

Use this when: You need to update the name of a dealroom or convert it to an Account Room.

/ask-momentum-channel

Creates a new Ask Momentum channel where you can query deal information and get AI-powered insights.

Use this when: You want to set up a dedicated channel for querying Momentum’s AI assistant about your deals and accounts.

/momentum-sfdc-report

Generates a Salesforce report and uploads it as a CSV file directly in Slack.
/momentum-sfdc-report
Use this when: You need to quickly export Salesforce report data without leaving Slack. Requirements: Salesforce integration must be connected.

/momentum-sfdc-dashboard

Opens a modal to browse and view your Salesforce dashboards directly within Slack.

Use this when: You want to check dashboard metrics without switching to Salesforce. Requirements: Salesforce integration must be connected.

Global Shortcuts

Access global shortcuts by clicking the lightning bolt icon in Slack’s message composer or by using the keyboard shortcut Cmd + / (Mac) or Ctrl + / (Windows/Linux).

Configure Integrations

Opens the “Your Integrations” modal where you can manage your connected services:
  • Salesforce - Connect or disconnect your Salesforce account
  • Google Calendar - Link your calendar for meeting sync
  • Outreach - Connect your Outreach account for sequence management
Use this when: You need to set up or manage your integration connections.

Search Knowledge Base

Opens a modal to search Momentum’s knowledge base filtered by opportunity stage. Find relevant content, battle cards, and resources for your deals. Use this when: You need quick access to sales enablement content relevant to a specific deal stage.

Emoji Reactions

React to messages with these emojis to trigger Momentum actions. These work in dealrooms and other Momentum-enabled channels.

Emoji reactions are a quick way to capture important information without interrupting your workflow. Simply react to any message to save it to the associated deal.

App Home

Click on the Momentum app in your Slack sidebar to access the App Home. Here you can:

Tabs

  • Opportunities - View and manage your pipeline
  • Tasks - See and update your tasks
  • Calendar - View upcoming meetings (requires Google Calendar integration)

Features

  • Filter - Narrow down results by owner, stage, or custom fields
  • Sort - Reorder your view by different criteria
  • Pagination - Navigate through large lists

Quick Actions

From the App Home, you can:
  • View opportunities in Salesforce
  • Request updates on deals

Dealroom Actions

When inside a dealroom channel, you have access to these actions through message buttons and the channel header:

Bot Mentions

Mention the Momentum bot (@Momentum) in any channel to interact with Ask Momentum. You can ask questions about:
  • Deal status and history
  • Account information
  • Pipeline metrics
  • Meeting summaries
  • And more

Tips & Best Practices

Instead of copying and pasting information, simply react to messages with the appropriate emoji to save them to your deal automatically.
Create separate dealrooms for each opportunity to keep conversations organized and ensure all context is captured in the right place.
Make it a habit to review your App Home each morning to see your tasks, upcoming meetings, and pipeline at a glance.
If you forget a command or emoji, the cheat sheet is always one command away.

Troubleshooting

Command not working?

  1. Check your integrations - Use the Configure Integrations shortcut to ensure your accounts are connected
  2. Verify permissions - Some commands require specific user permissions in your organization
  3. Check the channel - Some commands only work in dealrooms or specific channel types
